Stress Management and Life Strategy Coaching I am a licensed clinical psychologist practicing near the World Bank/IDB and International Monetary Fund, the Department of State and major law firms in the West End of Washington, D.C. My office is a short walk from the George Washington University Hospital, where I am affiliated with two departments, and from the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro station. The Metro provides easy access from downtown and Capitol Hill. My patient group is comprised of individuals, often with interpersonal concerns, and dual career couples. Currently they range in age from early 20s to middle 70s. My areas of professional expertise and interest include the mental health component of general medical, obstetrical and gynecological issues, and the treatment of anxiety, anger and depression--crying often or just not feeling happy for an extended period of time. Persons who seek my counsel may have diminished self-confidence, confused self-esteem or issues of self/body image. These issues often are accompanied by physical symptoms, such as pain, or health problems, perhaps including the need for weight stabilization. I have more than 30 years of experience and perspective in focused psychotherapy. In my life strategy coaching, I typically assist patients with charting and implementing multi-year strategies for reaching professional milestones and personal goals. I have specialized training in group dynamics and the complex functioning of organizational cultures: governmental and private-sector workplaces. I am licensed in the District of Columbia and Maryland. My clinical practice supervision--part of my formal training--was overseen by supervising analysts of the Washington Psychoanalytic Institute in Washington, D.C. I am not licensed to and do not prescribe medication. However, I have long-standing and collegial connections with many psychiatrists who do prescribe. I also cross-refer on a regular basis with specialists in ob/gyn, fertility, genetics, Attention Deficit Disorder, internal medicine, orthopaedics, general and plastic surgery, pain control, geriatrics, complementary alternative medicine and chiropractics. This site is provided by The George Washington University Hospital in coordination with The George Washington University Hospital Attending Physicians' Association. |
